About Sakinome

Hi, I'm Sakinome, the person behind this site.

I live in Okayama, a city in western Japan between Osaka and Hiroshima, and I started this site for people outside Japan who are curious about Japanese products — especially the ones that are hard to find, or hard to buy, from abroad.

Each guide is about one product: what it's like, where it's sold in Japan, which shops or services will actually ship it to your country, and the steps to order it yourself. Where I can, I buy and use the things I write about. When buying from Japan is clearly the better deal, I say so — and when it isn't, I say that too.

Stock and shipping rules change, so every guide shows the date it was last checked. When a route stops working, I update the guide or say so.

Sakinome isn't a catalogue of everything Japan makes. It's a small, growing list of things worth the trouble, with the trouble explained.

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy through them I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you, and it doesn't change what I recommend. See the affiliate disclosure.
